Youth Arts Pathways Program
(YAPP)

Year-Round, Free Mentorship & Professional Development for Middle- to High School Artists

YAPP is a new, year-round initiative designed to support young, promising artists in the Gunnison Valley who have big dreams and the passion and commitment to pursue them. In partnership with Imagine212, the Gunnison Orchestra and Vocal Academy (GOVA) and Western Colorado University, this program provides free, group and individualized training and mentorship to help youth grow, thrive and step confidently into advanced artistic opportunities.

Who Can Join? What are the Expectations?

Who can Join?

We look for passionate, committed young artists showing promise. To qualify, each student will:
● Sing “Happy Birthday” solo.
● Demonstrate authentic passion for - and commitment to - the arts.
● Share their artistic dream (even if it evolves over time).
No prior professional training or formal experience is required.

What are the Expectations?

YAPP is a mentorship and training-based experience designed for students who are motivated
to learn, grow and engage meaningfully. Participants are expected to arrive on time, be attentive during sessions, follow guidance from mentors, and treat peers, instructors and facilities with respect.
Because this program relies on consistency and relationship-building, students are also
expected to demonstrate a level of commitment appropriate to their availability. We understand that young people balance many responsibilities; however, reliable participation and follow-through are essential to getting the most from the experience.
Family support of and commitment to these expectations is key to maintaining a focused,
positive and inspiring environment for all students.

Why does it matter?

This program opens doors that have historically been out of reach for rural youth. Your child - or your student - can now access the same high-level mentorship, artistic development and national networks as kids in major performing arts cities.

This is a chance to find their people, strengthen their talent, and step into a world of creative possibility.
